Obituary of Alice Elizabeth "Betty" Jones

JONES - Mrs. Betty 1931 - 2010 It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Alice Elizabeth "Betty" Jones announce her passing on Thursday, September 2, 2010 in Shellbrook at the age of 79 years. Betty grew up on a farm and went to school in the Rich Valley District. She moved to Shellbrook in her teens and went to work at Koppang's Dairy, the Shellbrook Hotel and for the Van Melle family at the Shellbrook Bakery. She worked at Koppang's Store until she retired in 1991. Betty met Delbert at a dance in Rich Valley and they were married on November 2, 1951. Betty enjoyed traveling with Delbert. They went on many trips including the Maritimes, Branson, California and Alaska. Together they also enjoyed camping with many trips to B.C. picking fruit and sight seeing. Betty liked to golf and curl and she was an active member of the ACW. One of her favorite pastimes was having coffee with her friends. Betty will be remembered and missed by many. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her husband Delbert of Shellbrook; her daughters Linda (Bill) Woolley of Tisdale, SK; Marilyn (Gordon) Wunderlich of Saskatoon, SK; her grandchildren David (Shawna) Woolley and their child Wynter of Edmonton, AB; Michael (Stacy) Woolley and their child Shaye of Tisdale, SK; Nicole Wunderlich (John Kearns) of Saskatoon, SK; Lorielle Wunderlich (Christopher Antonopoulos) of Saskatoon, SK; her sister Mavis (Al) Dewan of Porcupine Plain, SK; Gladys (Gerald) Halayka of Prince Albert, SK; Lois (Stanley) Prosser of Shellbrook, SK; her brother Bob (Betty) Barkway of Shellbrook, SK; her sister in-law Iris Ross of Armstrong, B.C.; Betty was predeceased by her parents Reg & Lily Barkway. The Memorial Service for Betty took place on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Shellbrook, Rev. Stephen Harnish was officiant, the eulogist was Nicole Wunderlich, organist was Dave Hjertaas and hymns were led by the Shellbrook Community Choir. The Urn bearer was Linda Woolley and interment took place in the Shellbrook Cemetery. Memorial Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Shellbrook & Districts Health Services Project.
