Obituary of Mike Kalinowski

Kalinowski, Mike  October 11, 1936 – January 15, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Mike Kalinowski, late of Prince Albert, SK, announce his passing at home on January 15, 2025, with Iris, his loving wife of 64 years by his side.  

Mike was born to Mike and Jenny Kalinowski on October 11, 1936, at Janow Corners, SK.  He was one of 13 children that grew up on the family farm.  Mike started a long and hard-working career in his late teens, working in bush camp, and at the age of 20 he started a 40-year career working for Ruszkowski Construction.  Mike was a very passionate family man and always enjoyed going on hockey trips with his boys in the winter and numerous ball tournaments in spring.

Mike was well known for his exceptional work ethic, integrity and honesty.  He was a dedicated member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Prince Albert as an Altar Server for several years.  After retirement he enjoyed all his hobby farm duties as well as visiting with neighbors and playing cards.

Mike is survived by his wife of 64 years, Iris; his two sons, Doug Kalinowski (Leanne Maas) of Prince Albert, SK, and Dave (Kelly) Kalinowski of Red Deer, AB; his two grandsons, Brody Kalinowski (Bailey Van Koughnett) and Brandon Kalinowski (Beth Thomas) of Red Deer, AB; his sisters, Olga Smytaniuk, Irene (Stan) Korecki, Sylvia Balon; his sisters-in-law, Marie Kalinowski and Sylvia Kalinowski; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Mike Sr. and Jenny Kalinowski; his siblings, Nick Kalinowski, Jim (Vicky) Kalinowski, Harry (Pauline) Kalinowski, Johnny Kalinowski, Steve Kalinowski, Victoria Kalinowski, Sophie (Mike) Kalika, Mary (William) Balicki, Helen (Earl) Middlebrook; his brother-in-law, John Smytaniuk; his niece, Mary Strilkew; and his nephews, Greg Smytaniuk and Eddy Boyachko.

Public Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, followed immediately by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mark Parish, 589 9th St. East, Prince Albert, SK.
