Obituary of Antoinette Eugenie Conan
(November 30, 1939, to January 21, 2025)
The family of Antoinette (Toni) Conan (née Goueffic) are saddened to announce her passing on January 21, 2025, with her adult children by her side.
Mom grew up in the Carlton area east of Marcelin with her parents and family on 2 quarters of land. She often spoke of the “caboose” rides to town to attend school. The school she attended was the convent nun by the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. The sisters introduced mom to the love of her lord and the love of music. She attended her grade 10 in piano and voice their guidance.
Mom married our father and became a farmer’s wife, master gardener, and mother. She was the backbone of our family. She spent years in service to the community through the Board of Trade, Ladies of St. Anne Church Council, Cemetery Committee, just to name a few. If she wasn’t singing, she was directing a choir.
Mom also supported her sons in hockey. Many miles were made for tournaments and games. She drove her daughter to far away music lessons and figure skating.
Tonis pride and joy were her grandchildren. She helped each family as much as she could. Every summer mom arranged for all her granddaughters to spend one week with her and dad and the grandsons got the next week. Mom was ever present in their lives and attended school concerts, hockey tournaments, recitals, and swim meets. She was so proud of the people her grandchildren had become.
Mom felt doubly blessed when the great grandchildren started arriving. She started crocheting baby blankets in earnest.
Mom was predeceased by her parents Emmanuel Sr. and Antoinette Sr. (Ladouceur) Goueffic; Her husband Maurice Conan; Sister Josephine Charlebois; Brother Emmanuel Jr; and Sister in Laws Yvette Davis and Lillian Stefner.
She is survived by her children Francois (Joanne) Conan and children Marc (Brenda and children Rose and Alice) and Andrew Conan; Guy (Janet) Conan and children Michelle (Michael and child Benjamin) and Lauren (Tommy and child Brettlynn); Nicole Conan and children Megan Robin ( Ian Schneider), Laura Robin (Kewan Aboulhoen and children Eo and Aya), Mitchel Robin (Kiyoka and child Mia); and sister Louise Goueffic (former spouse Joseph Dierker).
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Leroux and the staff of nurses on the 5th floor of Victoria Hospital. A special thanks to Alana, Renee, Mare and Flo. Thank you for expediting moms transfer to Rose Garden Hospice and giving us the ability to say our goodbyes in an atmosphere of care and compassion.
Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Marcelin, SK (Box 102 Marcelin, SK S0J 1R0).
