Obituary of Gary Walker

Gary was born November 7, 1954 in Leoville. Gary was one of five children born to Charles and Jessie Walker. Growing up in the Ranger District until he turned 19 at which point he moved to Red Deer to work in the oil patch. He met Wanda when he was working as a fire fighter in Dorintosh and they married in 1978. With two children, Rashelle and Rene' they moved back to the Ranger District in 1992. Gary was a busy person and full of energy, his passions were the outdoors, camping, hiking, backpacking, berry picking and long scenic drives. Gary was a proud, hardworking, loving man, he enjoyed the company of all his family, and friends immediate and extended. Gary worked for SERM fighting forest fires and as the logistics manager, and when that job ended for the season he would take great pride at home with the animals, farming and getting the Ranger Garden greenhouse ready. Gary's memory will be forever in the hearts of and cherished by his loving wife of 33 years, Wanda, and their children Rashelle (Mark) and Rene'(Jessica) and their girls Lauressa and Grace and the one on the way. Dad, you are our legacy, our hero that we will never forget, we will miss you. He will also be forever remembered and loved by his brothers and sisters: Guernsey (Linda) Walker of Peers, AB, Pat (Lloyd) Elder of Saskatoon, SK, Sharron (Albert) Painchaud of Saskatoon, SK, Mona Chalifour of Leoville, SK and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and countless friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles and Jesse Walker. Gary's Celebration of Life was held Monday, September 26, 2011 at Ranger, Saskatchewan. Final Resting Place, the Ranger Cemetery. Eulogy was read by his daughter Rashelle Walker and Brianne Chalifour was the soloist. Pallbearers were Norman Magnus, Vernon Booker, Mark McDaid, Albert Cooling, Don Thiessen, and Sten Sornsen. Memorial Donations in Gary's name may be made to Red Cross.
