Obituary of Joseph Barnaby

It is with sadness the family announce the passing of Joseph on October 22, 2011. Joseph was the 12th child of Louis and Amanda Barnaby. He was born on December 3, 1924 on his father's homestead, one and a half miles from the North Saskatchewan River, and west of Prince in the Meota District. The family moved in 1927 to a larger farm 4 miles south of Delmas. It was here that he attended a country School for the primary grades and a High School in Delmas. Joe worked construction in North Battleford and Edmonton. He also operated and maintained a Caterpillar in Edmonton. Joe returned to North Battleford to his parent's farm in 1952. He build his parents a house in North Battleford. In between the farming season he worked construction. In the 70's he bought a farm near Spiritwood and moved onto it. Joe grew large gardens and was very generous with his vegetables that he harvested. He leaves to cherish his memories: His sister: Clara (William) Henke of Langley, BC His sisters-in-law: Jean Barnaby of Edmonton, AB, Eileen Barnaby of Saskatoon, SK and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by: His parents, Louis and Amanda Barnaby, his brothers, Edward, Fred, Ernest and Victor, his sisters, Aurora, Irene, Marie, Anne and Eva. Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, October 29th, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Spiritwood, Sk. Internment in the Spiritwood Cemetery. Memorial Donations in Joseph's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church Email condolences will be forwarded to the family.
