Obituary of Thomas Robert Warriner

Thomas Robert, loving son, special brother, dear grandson, caring boyfriend, nephew, cousin and friend to many, was tragically taken from us far too soon. Tom passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Royal University Hospital, after being critically injured in a wildlife accident while driving back to Saskatoon from Big River, SK on Sunday, September 24, 2006. Tom was born March 3, 1986. He will be remembered forever by his mom, Tammy Morin (Chuck), his dad, Rob Warriner (Kathy Hartnett), his sister, Talia Warriner, his gramma, Ilsa Magrath, his girlfriend, Jackie Anderson, his great grandparents, Harold Magrath and Lil and Fletch Thomas, his extended family, Tom and Pat Hartnett, Chuck's family, his godparents, Donna and Pat Panter as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. Tom was predeceased by his grandparents Tom and Barb Warriner, Gary Magrath, Donna Magrath and his godparent and uncle, Allan Magrath. In Tom's short life, he became an interested, well-known and well-respected young man. He treated others, young or old, very well. Tom gave us no trouble in his teen years and always had a healthy lifestyle. He loved high school sports, snow boarding, lacrosse, hockey, broomball, golf, softball, slow pitch, swimming, and camping. Tom entertained us with card tricks, juggling, magic tricks, endless movie/song quotes, impersonations, expressive storey telling, guitar playing, creative writing and flare bartending skills. Tom liked music, dogs, video games, playing cards, comedy, poker, magic, TSN, laughing, being a SIAST (Kelsey) student, Pepsi, sleeping in, TV, being a grad escort (6 times), computers and the WWF. He hated spiders! Tom was always a good student (excellent ability, but inconsistent work habits!) and grade 12 valedictorian. He attended the U of S (Engineering) for 3 terms, but didn't like it so much. Tom had various jobs since age 15: Co-Op Gas Bar, Esso, U of S, Dept. of Highways, Ski Timber Ridge, Ken Lueken Contracting, BR Concrete, Sport Chek (Kelowna, BC), BR Hotel and Cutco. Thomas was dedicated to family and friends. He was easy-going, polite, considerate and modest (These words would embarrass him!). Tom was a "gentle giant" (6'4", 245 lbs)! ...An only son for his parents, Tammy and Rob, ...An only sibling for his sister, Tal, ...A special love for his girlfriend, Jackie. Forever loved and missed! Forever young and remembered! Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened! The funeral service was held on Saturday, October 7th, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Big River High School Gym with officiants Rev. Ken Easterbrook and Rev. Brian Maitland. Soloists were Rev. Ken Easterbrook and Tom's special friends, the Block Family. "Tom's Story" was written and told by his friends. His dad, Rob Warriner was the urn bearer. An honor guard was formed by Legion members and close friends wearing team jerseys. Bless them! Honorary pallbearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Tom's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Big River Minor Sports or RUH, Intensive Care Unit RUH Hospital 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W8. Tom was laid to rest at the Big River Cemetery. God bless him!
