They were married in July of 1941. Guernsey was born in 1942. That winter was spent on the Big Island in Chitek, looking after mink for Blakman's. Her years on the farm were spent raising children, farming, haying, picking rocks (by hand), canting on the sawmill when Dad was short a hand, fighting fires, milking cows, making butter, selling cream and milk and eggs and of course baking bread almost every day, canning, making preserves and tending that huge garden. In 1975, she was diagnosed with cancer and underwent major surgery. The following year she went to work planting trees. She loved it. They lived on the farm until their house burnt in 1978. Then they retired to Chitek Lake. After Charles became ill, she moved to the Evergreen Center and lived their until her passing. She was a lifetime member of the Ranger Ladies Club. After moving to Chitek she was an active member of the Chitek Seniors. Her hobbies were many. Her love was her husband, her family, especially her grandchildren and her many friends.
