Obituary of Mary Ann Lavoie

Lavoie, Mary Ann - It is with deep sadness that the family of Mary Ann Lavoie announces her passing on September 17, 2006 at the age of 61. She was born in Rabbit Lake, SK on September 17, 1945, the fourth child of Joe and Bessie Oster. After four years at Carollton School, she completed her high school in Medstead, SK. Throughout her school years, she was very active in sports, especially in softball where she excelled as a back catcher. She also loved playing tricks on her siblings, especially her younger sisters. This continued as she loved to tease and play with her own children and later her grandchildren. Mary Ann also loved the outdoors, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She was a long time employee of the Spiritwood Confectionary, where she worked for 21 years. You could also find Mary Ann volunteering at the Lodge. She will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Andy Lavoie; her children Brad (Jocelyne) Lavoie of Saskatoon, SK, Grant Lavoie of Spiritwood, SK, Leanne (Derek) Sawatsky and their children Courtney and Kaylee of Allan, SK, Corinne (Dave) Schell and their children Logan, Jenna and Jayde of Allan, SK; her brothers and sisters Jim (Wanda) Oster of Medstead, SK, Joan (Ed) Seidle of Medstead, SK, John (Bev) Oster of Edmonton, AB, Pat (Jim) Exley of Wilkie, SK and Tess Kenney of Saskatoon, SK; her sister and brother in-laws Raymond (Helen) Lavoie of Valleyview, AB and Lena (Ivan) Rogers of Spiritwood, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents Joe and Elizabeth Oster and brother in-laws Gary Kenney and Henri Lavoie. Vigil of Prayers was held on Wednesday, September 20th, 2006 at 7 p.m. from the Sacred Heart RC Church in Spiritwood. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, September 21st, 2006 at 2 p.m. from Sacred Heart RC Church with the celebrant Reverend Father Lennard Sabio. The soloist was Bill Martodam and the cross bearer was Heather Seidle. Honorary pallbearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Mary Ann's life. Active pallbearers were Boyd Seidle, Cam Seidle, Brett Seidle, Greg Oster, Doug Oster and Stephen Oster. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Idylwild Lodge Auxiliary. Mary Ann was laid to rest in the Laventure Cemetery.
