Bruno Demers
1928-2013
Bruno was born February 24, 1928, the oldest of five children, to parents Annette and Victor Demers.
Bruno grew up and remained in the Debden area, all his life. Bruno married Lucille Parent in 1952, together they built a home and raised their six children.
Bruno owned and operated the grocery/hardware store with his brothers for many years, as well as being an SGI insurance salesman for over 50 years. Bruno was community minded from early on, as he served on the Village Council and for many of those years he was the mayor of Debden, and for over 60 years Bruno was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bruno enjoyed reading and read books of a wide variety of subjects. Bruno and Lucille also built a cabin in the early 60’s which became one of their favorite summer places, and their favorite winter holiday place was in Hawaii.
Dad, you will be greatly missed.
Bruno leaves to cherish his memories: his children:~ Luc (Colette Durette) of Debden, SK and his children: Annette (Jim) Dillon and Daniel (Lisa), ~ Richard (Betty-Ann) of Debden, SK and children: Ryan, Devin and Jenna (Brett),~ Yvonne (Brett) Kury of Vancouver, BC, ~ Yvette (Randy) Hanna of Saskatoon, SK, ~ Brian of Martensville, SK and children: Stephanie (Aaron) Lamontagne, Nicholas (Cassandra), Brandon, ~ Valerie (Kelly) Hinson of Debden, SK and children: Wyatt, Paige and Jayde and 6 great grandchildren, His siblings: ~ Robert (Rolande) of Debden, SK, ~ Medard (Edna) of Debden, SK, ~ Pauline (Wayne) Welte of Saskatoon, SK, ~ Philibert (Cecile) of Debden, SK and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bruno is predeceased by: his wife, Lucille in 2001, his parents, Victor and Annette and an infant daughter, Marie.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Bruno on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013 from the St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church in Debden, Saskatchewan, officiated by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kunnath.
Memorial Donations can be made in Bruno’s honor to the Knights of Columbus or Canadian Cancer Society.
