Obituary of Paul Selley Kennard SIMMANS

Paul Simmans 1947 – 2013 Mr. Paul Selley Kennard Simmans was born in Edmonton, Alberta on April 19, 1947 to Dennis and Lorna Simmans. Paul grew up with two brothers and one sister. He went on to be an airplane engineer for most of his working career. His career took him across Canada, as he went where ever he was needed. Paul and Ann operated Johnson River Fishing Camp in Northern Saskatchewan for 15 years. Paul was an absolute magnet to young children and the feelings were mutual for Paul. All Paul’s nieces, nephews and friends children knew they were in for fun times and joking when Uncle Paul was around. Many children have fond memories of Uncle Paul teaching them how to fish, drive the boat, camping or learning to ride their first bike. Paul’s love for the outdoors and animals especially black lab dogs was apparent in every aspect of his life. Paul really enjoyed the simple things in life – friends stopping by for coffee, spending the weekend camping with friends or family were high on his list of things that gave him pleasure. Many of his friends and family were recipients of his many pranks that will hold dear memories of him. Paul met Ann in 1975 and married the love of his life in 1980. Their married life was spent living in LaRonge, Johnson River, Prince Albert, Birch Hills and they eventually settled in Shellbrook. When Paul retired they had more time to travel, camp with friends and family. Ann and Paul enjoyed countless hours quadding and fishing together at Hackett Lake. Paul loved life and lived his life to the fullest, but he also had time for friends and family. Paul is lovingly survived by his wife, Ann Simmans; his brothers, Peter (Marilyn) Simmans and their children, Sean, Taylor and Hailey; Wayne (Irene) Simmans and their children, Kim and Christine; his sister Jean (Larry) Roberts and their children, Lynsey Ann and Adam; his father in-law, John Collins. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Dennis and Lorna (nee: Selley) Simmans; and his mother in-law Leona Collins (nee: Lukan). The Memorial Service for Paul was held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church in Debden, SK. with Father Sebastian Kunnath and Father Tru Lee as Celebrants.
