Obituary of Clifford Jerald LaClaire

Mr. Clifford LaClaire 1927-2013 It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Clifford Jerald LaClaire, who passed away on December 7th, 2013 at the age of 86 years at the Parkland Integrated Health Center House C. The Funeral Service for Cliff was held on Friday, December 13th, 2013 at 1:30pm in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Shellbrook with Dean Kenneth O. Davis officiating. Clifford was born in Shellbrook and farmed in the Rozilee district for 60 years. He took great pride in growing good crops and raised cattle and pigs over the years. From playing hockey in his younger years to watching sports on TV, Dad had keen interest. He liked to keep up with current affairs and go for car rides to look at crops. Dad had a strong will to live after several setbacks, but admitted to a caregiver recently that “I just want things to be like they used to be”. Our family prayed for that too, but it was not to be. We sincerely thank the staff of Victoria Hospital, Royal University Hospital and the Shellbrook Hospital House C, Shellbrook Homecare and Dr.’s Unsworth and Ngeugno for their wonderful care. Dad is survived by Margaret (nee Luck) his loving wife of 65 years; his daughter Donna (David) Smandych of Prince Albert, SK, and their children David & Mandy of Edmonton, AB; and his daughter Pat (Bob) Reichenberg of Prince Albert, SK and their son Michael of Prince Albert, SK; a brother Edward (Lucille) LaClaire, aswell as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives & many friends. He is predeceased by his beloved son Billy in 1956; his parents Alfred and Gertie; his brothers Alfred and Louie and a sister Eva Mein; his sisters- in-law Gerry and Maizie, and brother in-law Jim Mein. In lieu of tributes, memorial donations may be made in memory of Cliff to the Parkland Integrated Health Centre.
