Obituary of Alfred Primeau
Primeau, Alfred
1927-2014
Alfred Primeau passed away peacefully with family members at his side at the Idylwild Lodge in Spiritwood, Sk, on January 25, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Born March 8th, 1927, Alfred was the 4th of 12 children born to Fred and Marguerite Primeau. The family lived in the D’Amour district until homesteading south of Amiens and in 1947 Alfred & his brother Elzear purchased the family farm where he spent the next 60 plus years working the land and raising cattle.
Alfred loved dancing and music and played in a local band for many weddings and community dances. He would be pleased that his Fender guitar was used for special music during his funeral service. He loved sports, watching ball and hockey on TV. He played his last hockey game at age 65 and the family remembers many summer Sunday’s spent at the ball diamonds watching him play ball. He enjoyed a good game of checkers and a lot of fun was had at Kaiser Tournaments. He remained at home till last March when due to ill health he was moved to the Lodge in Spiritwood until his passing.
Alfred leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Clara of Shell Lake, SK; his children: Karen (Dave) Lockhart of Chemainus, BC; Laurie (Gerald) Woytiuk, of Shell Lake, SK; Gayla Primeau of Shell Lake, SK; Wayde (Bonnie) Primeau of Shell Lake, SK; Boyd Primeau of Cold Lake, AB; Dorne Primeau of Abbotsford, BC; Clara’s children: Sheila Lay (Rick Moore) of Whelan, SK; Marty (Julie) Lay of Loon Lake, SK; Sherry (Joe) Murray of Meadow Lake, SK; Lee (Cindy) Lay of Saskatoon, SK; 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, his brothers: Elzear (Eileen) of Shell Lake, SK; Albert (Naomi) of Speers, SK; Rene of Tumbler Ridge, BC; Leon of North Battleford, SK; his sister-in-law, Ruth Primeau of Shell Lake, SK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
