Obituary of Peter Kroeker

Surrounded with family by his side, Peter Kroeker passed away suddenly on October 11, 2006 in Spiritwood, SK at the age of 78. Pete was born November 3, 1927 at Gilroy, SK to parents Peter and Annie Kroeker. He was the second oldest of six children. Pete met and married Marie (nee Armstrong) of Meadow Lake on August 19, 1957. They had four children - Dale, Kelly, Debbie and Brad. Pete was very involved in coaching baseball and hockey. He was president of the Minor Hockey Association for many years. The children were raised well, left home and were quickly replaced with Blue Jays baseball and golfing. Pete became very involved in the Little Loon Park Board and worked very hard for grass greens. Peter and Marie built their retirements home in Medstead in 1989 and farmed until 1992 when they officially retired. You could always know which house was Pete and Marie's because of the very well lit up Christmas lights as well as "Pete's tree" across the street. Pete proudly drove school bus for 36 years. He was well known for his dry wit and sense of humor and he will be missed dearly. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Marie Kroeker; his children Dale (Nicole) Kroeker and their children Jared, Daniel, Jason, Adrian and Chelsea; Kelly (Ramona) Kroeker and their children Brady and Landon; Debbie Kroeker; and Brad Kroeker; his sisters Helen Braun, Margaret Friesen, Betty (Walden) Warkentin and Mary (Jim) Cameron; his brother Jake (Fern) Kroeker ; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; his mother in-law Jennie Armstrong as well as numerous relatives of the Armstrong family. He was predeceased by his parents Peter Sr. and Annie Kroeker and his brother in-law Henry Braun. The funeral service was held on Saturday, October 14th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the Medstead Community Hall with Rev. Richard Prankev as the officiant. The music director was Bill Martodam who played the congregational hymns Amazing Grace, Just A Closer Walk With Thee and How Great Thou Art. Honorary pallbearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Peter's life. Active pall bearers were Al VanCaeseele, Merv Ramsey, Brian Kendall, Kirby Kroeker, Albert Schmirler and Don Fergusson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or donor's choice.
