ALICE CLARA RIVARD (NEE COTE) April 19, 1920 – February 24, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Clara Rivard (nee Cote) on February 24, 2014 at the Evergreen Health Centre in Leoville, Sask. at the age of 93 years old. Alice was predeceased by her husband Phil, parents Ulric & Gertrude Cote, sisters Lillian (Robert) Debray, Florence (Edward) Lemieux, Esther (Gerry) Rivet, Gladys(Walter) Kondra, Doris (Robert) Lepage, Margaret (Emile) Blanchard, Ellen (Maurice) Lepage, Sister-in-Law, Louise Cote, and Brother-in-Law Don Veroba. She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings: Eileen Veroba, Joyce (Ed) Hyrnkiw, Vernon Cote, Ronald McGillis, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Alice was born on April 19, 1920 in Lampman, Sask. to parents Ulric and Gertrude Cote. She was the third child in a family of 11 children. Her parents and the rest of her family at that time moved to the Leoville district in September, 1931. Alice stayed behind with her grandparents to attend school and in September, 1936 joined the rest of her family in the Leoville /Timberland area. She married Phillipe Rivard on Jan. 9, 1941. They farmed in the Timberland district until selling the farm in 1971 and moving into Leoville. Phil passed away in 1984, and in 1997 she sold their home and moved into a Senior Duplex in Leoville where she lived independently until 2012 when she moved into Evergreen Health Centre. Alice or ``Aunty Alice``, as everyone knew her by, was active in the community volunteering many hours of her time with the Hospital Auxiliary, the church, Golden Ring Senior`s Centre and any other request that came her way, she was there to help. Her sewing skills were such that she taught sewing classes in town for a number of years. She loved to garden, and both her vegetable and flower gardens were always the most productive and beautiful of anyone else`s. She was also known for her baking and cooking, and her insistence upon feeding everyone. A five minute visit with her became a full course meal in short order. ``Aunty Alice`` will be missed in everyone`s life that she has touched. Her strength and caring ways will be the legacy she has left behind for the rest of us. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. Therese Parish, Leoville at 2:00pm. Interment to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Therese Parish, Leoville, or Evergreen Health Centre –The Eden Foundation.
