Obituary of Ken Lloyd Hamm

The family of Ken Hamm are deeply saddened to announce his sudden passing on October 23, 2006 in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 58. He was born May 2, 1948 in Saskatoon to proud parents Laura and Henry Hamm. Ken had three brothers Harvey, Bill and Ron Hamm. Ken grew up in the Waldheim area and later moved to Belbutte. He married Doris Anderson in 1971 and adopted Bonnie as a daughter. In 1972 Shelley was born and in 1976, Tanya. Ken lived in many places with many jobs. He worked side by side with his dad, Henry, in the backhoe business in Belbutte, was an electrician with his Uncle Dennis Martin in Vernon, BC as well as in Big River. Many knew Ken when he worked as a Pioneer Manager in Turtleford, St. Walburg and Carrot River, or working as a farm hand for local farmers. After the separation of his marriage, Ken moved to Lloydminster where he worked as a track hoe operator with company's such as Berretta, Silverdale, Transline and finally with Banditt. After living in Lloydminster for many years, Ken realized that the lake was where he really wanted to live. Ken moved temporarily to Aquadaeo and then later permanently to Meota. In February of this year, Ken found out he had lung cancer. After five weeks of radiation, chemo and surgery, Ken won his biggest battle and was told he was cancer free. On October 23, 2006 Ken passed away peacefully with Tanya, Newton, Shelley and Greg by his side. His family will dearly miss him, but have never been so proud of him and will forever live in their memories and hearts. Ken leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Shelley (Greg) Lavoie and their children Brittany and Makayla of Lashburn, SK and Tanya (Newton) Allchurch and their children Shalyn and Courtney of St. Walburg, SK; his brothers Harvey (Jean) Hamm of Daysland, AB, Bill (Myrna) Hamm of Grand Prairie, AB and Ron (Marilyn) Hamm of Kindersley, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Laura Hamm as well as numerous aunts and uncles. The funeral service was held on Thursday, October 26th, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Lakeland Community Church in Spiritwood with Martin Taylor as the officiant. The pianist was Hilda Janzen who played the congregational hymn The Old Rugged Cross. The eulogy was read by Ron Hamm. The honorary pallbearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Ken's life and the active pallbearers were Lindsey Hamm, Jarrett Hamm, Greg Hamm, Jeff Hamm, Lorne Dyck and Brian Dyck. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency #400-2631-28th Avenue Regina, SK S4S 6X3. Ken was laid to rest in the Spiritwood Cemetery.
