Obituary of Gordon Szasz

The family of Gordon Szasz are deeply saddened to announce his sudden passing on October 30, 2006 at the age of 73. He was born October 7, 1933 on the family farm to proud parents Gabor Sr. and Sophia Szasz. Gordon was the youngest of nine children. He got his education at Tinson School and started farming at a very young age with his brothers. When Gordon was old enough, he went to work on the oil rigs in the winter and farmed in the summer. He worked twenty years on the oil rigs and earned a diamond pin for the years that he put in. Gordon semi-retired in 1975 when he and Charlie sold the cattle and moved into town. From then on he was a grain farmer and he did a great job. He is only away, in our thoughts and in our hearts we will always be together, never apart. In our sorrow, we'll remember he's only away. Though he may not be with us, the memories will stay and in time when the hurt isn't so much to bear, whenever we look into our hearts, he'll be there. He will be remembered and sadly missed by his brothers Charles of Spiritwood, SK, Jim (Lorraine) of Ladysmith, BC, his sisters Helen (Randy) of Chilliwack, BC and Susan of Chilliwack, BC as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Gabor & Sophia; his brothers Gabor Jr., Joe & Louis; a sister Sophie Balla and a brother in-law John Kiss. The memorial service was held on Saturday, November 4th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the Civic Center in Spiritwood with Pastor Leah Sinclair as the officiant. The organist was Heather Mann and the congregational hymn was Amazing Grace. Special music was provided by JoAnne Walter, Julie Bassingthwaite, Trona Huchkowski and Barb Szasz. The eulogy was read by Eleanor Pallo, Eileen Moritz and Esther Gould. The urn bearer was Ed Szasz. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Spiritwood Villa Box 458, Spiritwood, SK S0J 2M0.
