It is with great sadness that the family of Warren George Louis Simonar, wish to announce his passing. Warren passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday June 7th, 2014. We thank the staff of the palliative care unit at Shellbrook Hospital for supporting Warren during his last days.

Warren also leaves behind a sister-in-law Leona (Louis) Schock, and niece Cynthia Schock; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Warren is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Grace Simonar (nee Smallwood), wife Erma Simonar (nee Neu), and daughter-in-law Colleen Simonar (nee Lafond).
Warren was born February 20th, 1935 in the Cresco School district of Shell Lake, SK. He attended Cresco school and then Shell Lake High School when his parents bought the Imperial Oil garage in town.
Several years after graduating, Warren met Erma Neu, his true partner and the love of his life. They married in 1958 and established a successful cow/calf/grain farm in Shell Lake that Warren capably kept running until a few months prior to his passing. First son Brad came along in 1959, followed by Derek one year later.
Warren was always helpful and resourceful, doing custom work in addition to farming. He hauled wood and cattle for others, did combining, spraying, and operated his own successful school bus transport company.
In 1985, Warren and relatives built a new larger cabin at Memorial Lake, on his parents’ lake- front lot. Many weekends and family celebrations took place at the cabin. Memories made at the cabin will live on as part of the legacy Warren gave us.
Even with so many work responsibilities, Warren found time to dance. He and Erma were regular members of the Livelong Square Dancing Club, and they also enjoyed pattern dancing.
In recent years, Warren was an avid fan of ‘coffee row’ at the cafes in town, and many will miss his smile, his jokes, and friendly conversation.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and dear friend. He will be deeply missed, and will stay always in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Monday, June 16th, 2014, in the Shell Lake Lion’s Hall, at 2pm, with Rev. David Jensen officiating. Interment will take place at Shell Lake Cemetery. Donations in memory of Warren may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com .
