Obituary of Carmel Kenney

It is with deep sadness that the family of Carmel Kenney announces his passing on November 20, 2006 at the age of 93. Carmel was born on December 28, 1912 in Saskatoon, SK and raised on a farm north of Blucher, SK. In 1932 he began homesteading at Mildred and farmed there until his retirement in 1975. In 1976 he moved to Spiritwood. Carmel enjoyed playing practical jokes and talking about farm experiences. He maintained an excellent memory, being able to remember many details of vehicle and machinery purchases and various farming activities with friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. He will be remembered by his brother Stuart Kenney of Prince Albert, SK, his sister in-law Margery Kenney of Medstead, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Edith Kenney, his brother Dalton (Evelyn) Kenney, his brother Dwight Kenney, his brother Dwain Kenney, his infant brother Dwight Kenney, his sister Dora (Archie) Hill and his sister in-law Annabelle Kenney. The funeral service was held on Friday, November 24th, 2006 at 10 a.m. from the Idylwild Lodge in Spiritwood with Rev. Leigh Sinclair officiating. The music director was Bill Martodam who played the congregational hymns Shall We Gather By The River and Nearer My God To Thee. The eulogy was given by Lloyd Kenney. Honorary pallbearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Carmel's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Bissell Memorial Church in Spiritwood. Carmel was laid to rest in St. Helen's Church Cemetery near Blucher.
