Obituary of David Glen Smandych

David Smandych 1945- 2014 It is with deep sadness that we say good-bye to David Glen Smandych. He passed away on Monday July 21, 2014 at the age of 69 years at his home with his family at his side. David was born in Yorkton, SK and grew up in Kamsack, SK. Following school, he moved to Thompson, MB, where he worked at Inco. and several construction sites in Northern Manitoba. He moved to Prince Albert with his wife and son in 1980 and continued to work as a welder until his retirement. Dave was a good father and husband and took much pride in his families accomplishments. He enjoyed fishing and visits with family and friends. Dave was very appreciative of the care that he received from Dr. Adamus, the doctors and staff of the Saskatoon Cancer Center, St. Paul’s Hospital, Royal University Hospital, Victoria Hospital and the Prince Albert Home Care, and his family would like to sincerely thank them also. Dave is survived by his wife Donna (nee LaClaire); his son David of Edmonton, AB; his daughter Mandy of Edmonton, AB; his brothers Don (Selma) Smandych of Kamsack, SK, Russell (Kathy) Smandych of Winnipeg, MB, and Richard (Donna) of Saskatoon, SK; his sister Barbara (Doug) Scott of Kamsack, SK; his mother-in-law Margaret LaClaire of Shellbrook, SK; his sisters-in-law Lois Smandych of Yorkton, SK, Joanne Smandych of Kamsack, SK, and Pat (Bob) Reichenberg of Prince Albert, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their children. David was predeceased by his parents William & Elma; his brothers Ken and Bob; and his father-in-law Clifford LaClaire. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday July 25, 2014 at St. David’s Anglican Church 500- 24th Street East Prince Albert, SK, with Reverend Dr. Norbert Haukenfrers officiating. A private family interment will be held in Kamsack, SK at a later date. In lieu of other tributes memorial donations in David’s memory may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society 54- 11th Street East Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9.
