Obituary of Rose Irene Bonin

BONIN Rose With incredible sadness, the family of Rose Irene (Godbout) announce her passing on Oct. 18, 2014 in the Shellbrook Health Center at the age of 91. Despite the difficulty and pain she endured in the last two months, she continuously showed her love and dedication to her family. Rose was predeceased by her loving husband, Wilfrid, 1989, her parents, Jean Baptiste and Berthe Godbout (nee: Watier), siblings: Roland; Fernand; Richard (Monique); Marcel; Donalda (Alva) Kemps; Blanche (Rudolph) Letourneau; Clemence (Gerard) April; her brothers-in-law: Lionel Boucher and Wesley Kingsbury and son-in-law, Gerald Verbonac. Those still holding her close to their hearts are her children: Diane Verbonac, Robert (Peggy) Bonin, Denis (Denise) Bonin, Agnes (John) Gondz, Omer (Jacqy) Bonin, Anita Bonin, Richard Bonin, and Tammy Bonin, 21 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. Her sister and brothers: Therese Boucher, Victor (Sylvia)Godbout, Alva (Claudette) Godbout, Clement (Eileen) Godbout, and her sister-in-law, Fernande Godbout. Rose was born on June 22, 1923, in a house her dad built just east of Marcelin. She was the sixth child of twelve. By grade 7 she left school to help her dad at the post office. She was known by family, friends and soldiers for her letter writing. Seven years later she married Wilfrid Bonin. She was an avid gardener and wonderful cook. She served on the CWL, the Church and Cemetery Committee, and was proud to be president of the Ladies’ of St. Anne. One of her favorite accomplishments was organizing and compiling the Marcelin History book with her friend Marguerite Grenier. Rose was committed to her husband, family and community. She loved singing to and babysitting her grandchildren. Her face would always light up when her great grandchildren would come to visit. Rose took pride in the fact that she was able to reside her whole life in the Marcelin Community. Her goal was to remain in her home until the end and she did. She will remain in her families’ hearts forever. A Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, October 21st, 2014 and a Mass of Christian Burial held on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014, both held from the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Marcelin, SK. Memorial Donations in memory of Rose may be made to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Marcelin, SK.
