Obituary of Ethel Marion Peterson

Ethel Marion Peterson 1927-2014 PETERSON - Ethel Peterson, aged 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 at the Shellbrook Integrated Nursing Home with her sister Pearl by her side. Ethel was born Feb. 9th, 1928 at Nurse Lidstrom’s home in Canwood, Saskatchewan. Ethel received her education at the Dry Creek School and later accepted employment at the Prince Albert Sanitarium as a nurse’s aide, often returning home on her days off to spend time with family. She loved her job and met many lovely patients and staff who she worked with. Ethel took piano lessons and played for many occasions. She had a beautiful alto voice and enjoyed singing with her sister Pearl at the United Church at Marchant Grove. She also enjoyed softball, knitting and crocheting in her spare time. Ethel spent her last few years at the nursing home in Shellbrook and loved the staff there. Ethel was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Lydia Peterson and her brother-in-law, Garnet Evans. She leaves to mourn her sister, Pearl and family; brother Arnold (Evelyn) and family; brother Ray (Verna) and family and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be sadly missed. A Graveside Service will be held for Ethel on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Canwood North Cemetery (3/4 mile east and 1/4 mile north on the Moose Valley Road by Canwood). The Graveside Service is open to the public, and following the graveside everyone is welcome to join the family at the Canwood Elks Hall Seniors Room for a short program and lunch and fellowship to follow. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to Parkland Integrated Health Centre Long Term Care.
