Obituary of John Peter Fonos

Fonos, John Sr September 10th, 1936 - January 2nd, 2015 John passed away peacefully on January 2nd, 2015 at the age of 78, in Big River. John leaves to cherish his memory: His children: Ivor Fonos; Howard (Norine) of Sled Lake, SK and family: Dyson, Aaron (Alison & their daughter, Nadia), Kendal & Quenton; Ken (Lisa) of Big River, SK and family: Samantha & Kyle; Jonathon of Dore Lake, SK and family: Johnathon & Jennifer; Arnold of Blue Ridge, AB and family: Christopher (Amanda) & Brian; Gerald (Darlene) of Cold Lake, AB and family: Roland & Wilson; Kelly (Candice) of Edmonton, AB and family: Samuel, Kimberly, Daniel & Zoey His spouse, Marcella; His siblings: Don, Arnie (Jean), Karen (Bob), Paul (Ellen); His brother-in-law, Frank John is predeceased by: His parents, Ivar and Mary Fonos (nee: Giesbrecht), His son, Terry Fonos, His sister, Naioma “Tootsie” Letondre & His granddaughter, Rachel. A Celebration of Life was held for John on Saturday, January 10th, 2015, at The Community Hall in Big River, Saskatchewan, Officiated by Delores Beaulac. Shared Memories were led by Jonathon Fonos and Ellen Fonos. A special Poem was read by Samantha Fonos. Urn Bearer was Christopher Fonos. John’s family appreciates all the well wishes and help throughout, as well as the many stories told during the open mic at the lunch that followed the service. Interment will take place at the Big River Cemetery at a later date. “John was a trapping man, that’s what he loved to do Fishing, hunting or maybe a drink or two. He didn’t need an elaborate life, simple was his plan Because John was a trapper and not a frivolous man. Yes he was down to earth and willing to share his knowledge It was all self taught because there was no hunting college. He lived off the land because that is what he loved Now he’s in a different place, he moved up above.
