Obituary of Harold Gordon Kjerstad

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Harold Kjerstad, announce his passing on February 24, 2007 at his home. Harold was born in Prince Albert, SK on July 1, 1942, the oldest son of Olaf and Gudrun Kjerstad. He was a quiet, gentle man who spent his entire life on the family farm at Shell Lake, SK. Harold was very fond of horses and he was an excellent cattleman. He loved rodeos and often took part in team roping events. Harold had many good friends and his home was a favorite stop for morning coffee. Friends in town could set their clocks by him for their 3 pm break. Harold was very generous with his time and was always willing to help friends and family. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his doting sisters Laura Battersby, Louise Law (Merv), Joyce Henderson and Ollie Wollms; his brother Arnold (Rhonda) Kjerstad and their families; a special daughter Crystal Allchurch and her fiance, Jason, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Olaf and Gudrun Kjerstad, his sister Anna Kjerstad, his brother in-laws Cameron Battersby, Bill Warren, Bob Henderson and 2 nieces and 4 nephews. The funeral service was held on Friday, March 2nd, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Shell Lake Lion's Hall with Ross Helgeton as the officiant. The music director was Claire Schira and the hymns were Go Rest High On That Mountain, Amazing Grace, In The Garden and God Must Be A Cowboy. The eulogy was given by Keith and Don Thorsteinson. Honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Harold's life and the active pall bearers were Harold's nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan. Harold was laid to rest in the Shell Lake Cemetery.
