Obituary of Frederick "Clayton" Agnew

Agnew, Frederick Clayton passed away March 31, 2015 at the age of 91. Clayton was born in Shellbrook on March 29, 1924 and resided in Shellbrook until March 2010 and then moved to Saskatoon to be closer to family. Clayton and Mary Craig were married on August 27, 1955 in Coldstreaam ,New Brunswick. Clayton is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Brenda (Tom) and their family Joshua Piper (Cara) and their son Bennett, Jason Piper (Ashlee); and son Alex (Joanne) Agnew. Clayton operated Agnew Motors Ltd, for many years prior to taking the position as the administrator of the Shellbrook Union Hospital in 1974. Clayton was a World War II veteran, a lifetime member of the Shellbrook Legion, a member of the Shellbrook Masonic Lodge and volunteered his time and services to many organizations in Shellbrook including St. Andrews Anglican Church and the Shellbrook Credit Union. Clayton was the recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee’s Medal. In retirement Clayton and Mary enjoyed travelling and made numerous trips across Canada and to Waskseiu in their 5th wheel trailer. Clayton was predeceased by his parents A. Fred and Sarah Agnew, sisters Thea (George), Phebe (Larry) and Maris; brother Arthur (Eleanor) and in-laws Clayton and Laura Craig. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 4, 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Shellbrook. In lieu of flowers or other tributes donations may be made to the Shellbrook & Districts Health Services Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home, Shellbrook, SK- Marianne Turcotte Funeral Director.
