Vernon Stanley Henry Larson
1937- 2015
Vern passed away on Sunday May 3, 2015 at his home in Candle Lake, SK. He was born on the family farm north of Kinistino, SK on November 30, 1937. Vern attended Queen Maud and Pahonan Schools. At age 18 he went to Prince Albert to work at Palm Dairies, shortly thereafter he decided to move out to British Columbia to spread his wings, after 1 1/2 years and decided to move back home. Vern then started driving truck for Wiggins Transport out of Kinistino and later he went up to Northern Saskatchewan and went to work for the DNR. After a short time he decided to go back to help his father with the family farm and eventually took over. Vern met Donna Eros and they were married October 22, 1965. In 1974 while continuing to farm they decided to pursue opportunities which included, working as a mechanic at Soulier Motors, purchasing Chambers Service and the Kinistino Car Wash. In 1984 he sold the businesses and moved to Prince Albert to sell Real Estate and manage properties. During this time he enjoyed building and flying model planes. In 1984 Vern and Donna purchased their cabin at Candle Lake where they enjoyed fishing, and relaxing. Work then took them to Calgary for a number of years with a Property Management Company, in 2001 they moved back to Candle Lake as their permanent residence. To get out and about Vern worked for Dan & Gail Jackson at C&S Septic for a number of years. Vern enjoyed working on their own home or on projects. He didn't say no to anyone who might need a helping hand or to borrow a tool. Vern loved to watch birds and reading books. He had a great love for his furry pets, his "BUDDY" Duke and Missy, were sadly missed, he will be missed by his current pets Chloe, Tigger and visitor Miss Maci! He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Donna; his son Darren (Elizabeth) Larson; his daughter Shelly (Murray Anderson) Larson; his grandchildren Michala Gregory, Liberty Larson, and Jessica (Dane) Thompson; his great grandchildren Cashton and Brax; his brother Len Larson and family; his sister Darlene (Lyle) Poley and families; his sister- in-law Arlene (Harry) Kemble and families; his brothers- in- law Allen (Anne) Eros and families, Larry (Beryl) Eros and families; and many special friends who shared in his life. Vern was predeceased by his parents Algot and Matilda Larson; Donna’s parents Ray and Ruby Eros; his sister- in- law Grace Larson; and niece Michelle Gilchrist. Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Candle Lake Cemetery with Celebrant Linda Holmevik officiating, lunch will follow at the Candle Lake Rec Hall.
