Obituary of Josef Frank Orosz

Josef Orosz 1931- 2015 Joe, born in the Norbury District; raised south of Spiritwood on the Homestead attended Resolute School. In his younger days he was involved with 4-H, curling and square dancing where he met Therese in 1959. Joe and Therese married Dec. 28th, 1961 and started their farm and family life together. In the early years of establishing his farm he spent a few winters working on the oil rigs in Northern AB. Later in life when he was winding down his involvement with the farm he worked for Harold Fast hauling pigs to Saskatoon. Occasionally he worked for Census Canada, a good job for someone blessed with the gift of gab, as he certainly was. He was involved with Wheat Pool, Co-op, Knights of Columbus (a member for over 50 years), the Snow Plow Club, and the Resolute Community Club. He enjoyed family gatherings, attending Mass, visiting with neighbors, playing cards and aggravation, Resolute dances and card parties, listening to CJWW, country music and Old Tyme dancing. Over the years on the farm there were cows, pigs, sheep, chickens and geese. Farming remained his focus throughout his life until he retired and his son took over and continues to farm it today. In his retirement years he looked forward to his annual visits with Joanne and Sylvia and their families and always enjoyed when his children and grandchildren came to visit. The birth of his great grandchild was a special occasion in his life. He looked forward to going to town to pick up the mail and visiting in the coffee shop. A special event in his life was a trip he took with his sister Mary in 1990 to Hungary, the birthplace of his parents. Despite being raised with very little, his parents instilled a strong sense of family in him. He was very happy when his children, grandchildren, siblings and their family came out to the farm for a visit. In all of his and Therese’s 53 years together there may have been only one or two times that the family was not all together sometime during the Christmas Season. A special gathering took place last July when all remaining descendants of his parents gathered for Mass in Spiritwood followed by a barbeque at the home of Veronica and Murray in Rabbit Lake; Dad was so happy and proud.
