Obituary of John William Smith

John Smith 1953- 2015 John William Smith peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday June 14, 2015. He has been an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle to his family. John will also be missed by his friends and all who have met him through his work and ministry. A Celebration of John’s Life and Legacy will be held at Crossroads Pentecostal Assembly on Saturday June 20th, 2015 at 2:00pm, with Pastor Ches Jacobs and Pastor Glen Stead officiating. John William Smith was born on August 25th 1953 to Philip and Grace Smith in the town of Fillmore, SK. He was the eighth child in a family of nine siblings. His early life as a Pastor’s son greatly impacted his life and in many ways helped make him into the man we all have had the pleasure of knowing. One of John’s areas of ministry was music and this was best displayed through the Believer’s Quartet. John and his three siblings Wayne, Ken, and Fern ministered across Canada and Ireland singing songs and ministering God’s Love to all they came in contact with. Many lives were touched by their ministry and the message of hope that they shared. Through his years after the Quartet, John trained to be an EMT. He quickly got a job working in the health district of Weyburn SK and met the love of his life, RN Susan Smith. They decided to get married shortly after and on August 3rd, 1985 they exchanged their wedding vows. John was blessed with a wonderful life and ministry. He was a loving father to his two children, Jeremy and Rebecca. John also had a special place in his heart for his daughter-in-law Kimberly and his four wonderful grandchildren, Dustin, Aisha, Elias and Emery. John ministered in churches all throughout Canada including Lindsay ON and Moose Jaw SK, as well as Prince Albert SK. John was able to see Heaven before his passing and spoke to His son Jeremy about Heaven’s beauty. As it says in Psalm 139:16: ‘Your eyes saw me when I was still an unborn child. Every day of my life was recorded in your book before one of them had taken place.’ While John’s passing is painful we do not mourn as those who have no hope. He has gone to his reward in heaven where one day we can all meet again. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years Susan; his son Jeremy (Kimberly); his daughter Rebecca; his grandchildren Dustin, Aisha, Elias, and Emery; his sisters and brothers Ruth (Bob) Eaton, Wendell (Marg) Smith, Lorraine (Lawrence) Mantyak, Harold (Carol Ann) Smith, Gwen (Darryl) Davidson, Fern Smith, Ken (Gwen) Smith; his sister-in-law and brothers- in-law Penny Sahar, Don (Doris) McLaughlin, and Grant (Brenda) McLaughlin; as well as numerous other relatives. John was predeceased by his parents Philip and Grace Smith; and his brother Wayne Smith. “For God so loved the World that he gave his only son. That whosoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com.
