Obituary of William George Goertzen

William passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Villa, in Prince Albert, SK. He was born on the family farm January 8, 1936, near Chitek Lake, SK. He attended Spruce Creek School, where he completed Grade 8. William then worked on the family farm soon moving to Prince Albert to work at Burns. He married the love of his life Patricia (Patsy) Marie Evelyn Lemieux in June of 1958. Together they worked with hopes of saving enough money to go farming, in 1960 they were able to purchase their own land and this started a 25 year farming career. During this time they raised 4 boys. William and Patsy then enjoyed 25 years of semi- retirement in Leoville, SK. He was the local handy man, spending countless hours tinkering in his shop. William and Patsy spent summer weekends camping and fishing, and playing cards with Helen and Dollard Riel. He also loved the annual hunting and trapping seasons. In 2008 it was time to move to Prince Albert, to be closer to health care. They became active participants in their condo association and spent pleasurable time playing cards with Florence and Don Dugan.
