Obituary of Frederick Joseph Ziegler

Frederick Joseph Ziegler 1927 - 2015 Mr. Frederick Joseph Ziegler, late of the Big River Health Centre, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 20, 2015 at the age of 88. The Funeral Service for Frederick was held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. from the Big River Legion Hall for with Delores Beaulac officiating. The interment followed in the Big River Cemetery. Fred was born on May 5, 1927 to his parents Edward and Agnes Ziegler. He was schooled in the Big River area until around the age of 14 when he entered the work force. He drove horse and sleigh, hauling fish from Dore Lake and Big River. He joined the army in 1951 and from then until 1954 he was stationed in Korea. In 1958 Fred married Doris Lacendre. Over the years they had 6 children. He worked as a mechanic, welder, farmer's helper and was also employed at the Big River mill when it was by the lake in Big River and in Bodmin. Through the years Fred resided in Big River and area as well as many years in Shellbrook. He enjoyed spending his spare time and off years snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, trapping, golfing and watching sports on television. Fred is survived by: his siblings: Thelma (Bill) Hall of Saskatoon, Anne Helgason of Saskatoon, Linda (Brad) Buhay of Edmonton, Leo Zigler of Saskatoon, Bill (Verna) Ziegler of Saskatoon, Jim (Julie) Ziegler of Vanscoy, Gerry Ziegler of Edmontonand Yvonne (Art) Saretsky of British Columbia. his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Carl Ziegler and his children: Perry and his child, Kaydis; Shana; Chantel and her child, Hailey. Carol (George) Hildebrand of Big River and their children: Mandy (Douglas) and their children: Harley (Craig) and their child Laila; Jazmyn; Josie (Richard) and their children, Erica and Zackery; Shaun (Stacey) and their children: Quentin, Vanessa and Trytin. Janet (Barry) Simpson of Kenaston, and her child, Kelsea Leesa (Jason) Layman of Prince Albert, and their children: Jennifer (Justin); Shaylene. Dawn (Jim) Elliot of Saskatoon and their children: Ashley and her child, Hunter; Kyla. Fred was predeceased by: his parents, Edward and Agnes Nee Landry) Ziegler; an infant son, Anthony Ziegler; siblings: Jean Whelen, Carl "Buddy Ziegler, Robert "Snooky" Ziegler.; step siblings: Jean Whelen, Dennis Ziegler, Harry Ziegler; brothers-in-law: Mick Whelen, Bob Helgason; grandchildren: Charla Ziegler, Kevin Ziegler.
