Obituary of Eugene Clinton Laughren

The families of Eugene Clinton Laughren are saddened to announce that Eugene passed away suddenly on April 26th, 2007 in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 59 years. He was born on the family farm about five miles east of Shell Lake, SK on July 6, 1947 the last child in a family of ten. He went to school in Lynwood, then Shell Lake. Eugene worked in Elrose, Melfort, PA and Shell Lake. Bush work, hunting and trapping were the most important things in his life next to his children and grandchildren. Eugene worked at trapping and woodcutting, but his recreation was gardening and growing flowers. He was never too busy to stop for coffee and a long chat on the road or in town. Eugene will be remembered and sadly missed by his daughter Adele (Claude) Wasden and their children Farin, Mellisa and Magan of Spiritwood, SK, his sons Troy Laughren of Prince Albert, SK and Blaine Laughren (Erica) of Debden, SK and their children Devin and Kimberly; a special friend Dawn Mezzo of Shell Lake, SK, his sister Edith, his brothers Garry, Edward, Ray (Mary), Irwin (Leona), Gordon (Vivian) and Ernie (Jessie) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents Clinton and Mary Laughren and his brothers Richard and Benny. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 1st, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Shell Lake Lion's Hall with Delores Beaulac as the officiant. The eulogy was read by Christine Wollms and Bill Martodam sang solos. Honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Eugene's life and the urn bearers were his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan or the donor's choice.
