Obituary of Ronald Keith Larson
Ron Larson
May 27, 1955 – October 3, 2015
Ron was born to parents Jonny and Verna Larson on May 27, 1955. He was raised on the family farm west of Shellbrook with his brothers Ken and Wayne and sister Shirley. He attended school in Shellbrook and was baptized, confirmed and married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkside. Ron passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2015.
Ron worked a variety of Jobs over the years as well as farming at the same time. He worked for the Co-op, Monroe's Datsun in PA, as a buggy operator for the Shellbrook RM, Pott's construction, for Iver Muller and as a crane operator for the bridge crew for the Department of Highways. For the last 20 years, Ron has worked as maintenance for the Prince Albert Health Region at Shellbrook Hospital, Parkland Terrace, Whispering Pines Place in Canwood and Parkland Integrated Health Centre in Shellbrook.
On June 17, 1978, Ron married the love of his life Debbie Stene. They were blessed with three children, Kelly, Amber and Krista. And over time they have been blessed with grandchildren Kaitlan,Erika, Brett, Brady, Sophie, Lucas and two more on the way. He loved all his family- close and extended. Each of them have very special memories of the things that he has done with them - trips, camping, 4H, outdoor Ed, a trip to BC, a 4H trip to North Dakota, adventures with the grandchildren to Waskesiu, the crooked trees, the Zoo. Ron and Deb themselves have gone on some adventures together with trips to Las Vegas, Newfoundland and a trip to Slave Lake earlier this summer.
Debbie, Kelly, Amber and Krista are grateful for the special time Ron shared with them in the last few weeks. These last few months as he struggled with health concerns, he made time and effort to stay connected with each of them.
There are so many things that could be said to describe Ron's life and character- his sense of humour, his perseverance even in hard times, his kindness and willingness to help others, his hunting abilities (ask Chris Dean) and much more.
Over the years Ron enjoyed many activities such as farming, hunting, fishing, tractor pulls, building things, visiting with friends. In these last few years, Ron and Debbie transformed their farm and yard into a place of beauty.
Many people when they think of Ron will think of the stage coach and Ron's team. Ron built this stage coach with good friend and neighbour Vic Dutka.
Ron is lovingly remembered by his wife Deborah; his children Kelvin (Samantha) and their children Brady, Sophie and Junior; Amber (Kevin) Stene and their children Kaitlan, Erika and Brett; Krista (Curtis) Byklum and their children Lucas and Junior; and his siblings Ken Larson, Wayne (Sheila) Larson, Shirley (Raymond) Agrey as well as numerous family and friends.
Ron is predeceased by his parents Jonnie and Verna Larson, sister Elaine and parents-in-law Lloyd and Marion Stene.
The Memorial Service for Ron was held on October 7, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Parkside, SK and interment was in the Parkside Cemetery.
