Obituary of Fletcher William Thomas

Fletcher William Thomas Fletch peacefully passed November 16, 2015, in Big River, SK, at the age of 91. He resided in long term care at the Big River Health Centre, but kept his sense of humour and teasing nature despite the decline in health in recent years. Fletch was born January 27, 1924 in Wellington, BC. He served in the infantry overseas in WWII, he worked for CP Rail, and was employed at the Harmac Pulp Mill. He married Lillian (Doucette) Magrath in 1959 and stayed in the Nanaimo area until 1990 when they moved to Kaslo, BC. In 2002, Fletch and Lil moved to Saskatchewan. Fletch will be lovingly remembered and is survived by: wife – Lillian: grandchildren - Tammy Morin, Kurt Magrath, Shaya & Dylan Magrath: great grandchildren - Talia Warriner, Owen & Aaron Magrath, Iaisha Magrath, Chaneil, Kaden, Roan, Rhea, Damon, James, & Jaylene Morin: great-great grandchildren - Tegan & Brody Kenny: daughter-in-law - Ilsa Magrath: special friends – Eloise Kazmiruk, Jake McCrea, Chris Smolla: nephews & nieces: and his very best friend & loyal companion, Gracie, his daily canine visitor. Fletch was predeceased by: parents – Fletcher & Julia (Hiquebran) Thomas: stepchildren – Gary, Jacqueline, & David Magrath: siblings – Gladys, Joseph, Margaret, Alice, Douglas: daughter-in-law – Donna (Pho) Magrath: grandsons – Allan Magrath, Shane Magrath: great grandson – Thomas Warriner: nephews – Ricky Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Bill Jones: great niece – Andrea Mains. A private memorial service, which included a Legion Veteran ceremony and honour guard, was held November 19, 2015.
