Obituary of Denis Blais

Denis Blais June 11, 1934 - December 14, 2015 Denis passed away on December 14th, 2015 at the age of 81, the seventh of eight children, eternally grateful to have been born into a family that supported and helped each other throughout their lifetimes. Denis went to school in Mattes, finishing grade 8. Loved telling of the trek to and from school; far and uphill both ways. Childhood memories were fond but not without hardship. What his family lacked monetarily, they made up tenfold with love and support. As a young man, he undertook jobs along with working on the family farm. In the early 1950’s, worked in a lumber camp at Primrose Lake air weapons range near Cold Lake AB. Continuing to farm with his father until on Oct. 15th, 1956 when he married the love of his life, Bibiane Tremblay, together raising a family of 9 kids born within 11years and 2monthes, always relying on their firm commitment to their faith and the Catholic Church, instilling the importance of respect, generosity, community involvement, volunteering and God. In 1970, Denis and Bibiane added dairy to their farming, and received a “Master Dairyman Award” given to the “Top Quality Producers” for 1972, continuing the dairy until 1988, in 1995 moved into Debden for their retirement years. Denis was involved with the Knights of Columbus, Debden Rec Board, helping build the Church, hockey rink, school and curling rink. He worked hard, played hard, travelled near and far to visit family. He was a musician, played a mean harmonica and accordion, singing with the Debden Church Choir, loved jam sessions with the grandchildren. With a great love for camping and fishing, family fish fries, visiting this country’s natural beauty of the mountains, numerous lakes, and rivers, that will always evoke treasured memories.
