I truly am sorry to hear of Dave's passing. For many years, he regularly came for coffee or a beer to our place and just shot the shit. He was a friend of my husband's , Randy Major, and was over at least once or twice a week. If we happened to be going to one of our kids ballgames, he would come as well. If we were working on the house, Dave always lent a hand. He saw how pathetic I was at reglazing my windows and took over, helped with carpentry and stuccoing. Dave was really a part of our household and I enjoyed our conversations. In 2004, we lost our daughter to suicide, so I know how devastated you must all be. Dave came to Randy's funeral in 2009, and I didn't get a chance to talk to him again. Over the years I've thought of him many times and wondered how he was doing. It sounds cliche,, but let your memories of Dave help get you all through this. He spoke well of all of his family, and truly loved you.
