Obituary of Murrel Holtorf

Murrel Holtorf 1915 - 2016 Murrel passed away on Feb 5th, 2016 at the age of 100. The funeral service was held on Friday, April 8th, 2016 at 2:00pm from the Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Witnesses in Spiritwood, SK. Murrel is predeceased by two brothers Roy (and his wife Grace) and Jess (and his wife Irene), and two sisters Alice Smith (and her husband Frank) and Louise McInnis (and her husband Russel). Murrel as a man who enjoyed some of the simple things in life. He worked on the farm with his father and stayed on the farm until his parents retired. Later in life he married Olga Larson and they semi-retired in Spiritwood. Murrel continued to work part-time driving ambulance in Spiritwood and also worked on the farm for Alfie Vaagen, Olga’s brother. Murrel had a sincere interest in the Bible and was known as a minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses. His interests in life included fishing, playing cards and he and Olga enjoyed travelling. They drove across Canada and went to a number of vacation spots in the United States. Murrel also got a great deal of enjoyment from shopping for purchasing a new car! He will be remembered as a no-frills man who put his service to his God first in his life.
