Obituary of John Egnar Lundeen

Mr. John Egnar Lundeen 1928 - 2016 John “Egnar” Lundeen passed away peacefully at the Shellbrook Hospital on Saturday, February 13, 2016 after a short illness. Egnar was born on the farm in Canwood, Saskatchewan on May 22, 1928 to Ethel (nee Olson) and Pete Lundeen. Egnar worked hard his whole life farming on the family farm in Canwood, alongside his brother Evert. As a young man Egnar played many sports. He played softball for the Dry Creek Penguins, the local softball team that continues as a team from the area to this day. He played hockey, softball and enjoyed golfing at the Canwood Regional Park. Egnar had retired from active farming a number of years ago buy always kept the farm yard neat and took care of the farm cats. He was always there to help family, friends and neighbors and had a smile and a story to tell. Egnar led a quiet life on the farm after retiring, watching all kinds of sports and bowling in town for a number of years. Egnar will be missed by his family – his brother Evert Lundeen of Canwood; his sister Gertie Lofstrom of Saskatoon, Sk.; his sister Elsie Sailors (Dennis) of Lincoln, Nebraska USA. He will be missed by his nieces: Shelley Bouwens (Randy) of Lincoln, Nebraska; Karin Lofstrom (Guylaine Bernier) of Ottawa,Ont.;Sharon Gilbert (Wayne) of Kimberly B.C.; and Pat Rogal ( Paul) of Saskatoon, Sk.; and Nephew Derek Sailors of Coaldale, Arizona. Egnar will also be missed by his cousins, great nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors. Egnar was predeceased by his father Pete Lundeen, his mother Ethel Peterson and his step father Pete Peterson. At Egnar’s request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of tributes, memorial donations may be made in memory of Egnar, to the choice of the donor.
