Obituary of Leonard "Len" Raymond Lomsnes

Leonard Raymond Lomsnes January 28, 1939 - February 18, 2016 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Len Lomsnes. Len passed away peacefully on February 18, 2016 at home with his family by his side. Len was born in Canwood, SK on January 28, 1939 and then resided and worked in Big River all of his life. Len was predeceased by his mother Anna, father Reidar, brother Andy and son Jordan. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marlene, his sister-in-law Deedie Lomsnes, his daughter Marcia (Don) Holyk, his daughter Cayla (Collin) Colby, and his son Cory (Jen) Lomsnes, along with 10 grandchildren; Ashley, Dallas, Brooklyn & Madison Holyk; James, Quinn & Tegan Colby; Riley & Kiarra Lomsnes; and Cody Christensen and 2 great-grandchildren; Knox and AnnaBelle Holyk. Leonard, better known as “Big Len” to everyone that knew him was a well read, kind-hearted man who was loved by all that knew him. Big Len was very involved in the Big River community as a store owner, town councilor and director of the chamber of commerce. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as working several years in the bush. Len was always seen around town, at hockey games, social events and his daily coffee with Marlene at Third and Main. Len was cremated and will be laid to rest at the Big River Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Big River for family, relatives and all of Len’s friends. In-Lieu of flowers a donation to the Town of Big River/Health Care Fund (Box 220 Big River, SK S0J 0E0 - 306-469-2112) for the much needed Digital X-Ray System would be greatly appreciated.
