Obituary of Clara Maria Croteau

The family of Clara Croteau are deeply saddened to announce Clara's passing on August 20, 2007 at the age of 85 years. Clara was born January 11, 1922 and grew up in a large family on a farm near Reward, SK. She became a teacher and taught at Polworth and Greenmantle Schools. It was when she was teaching that she met Marcel. They married in 1946 and farmed for many years until they retired and moved to Debden in 1976. During their life they traveled to many different places. In her later years she enjoyed visiting and playing cards with family and friends and gardening. Clara battled cancer for almost two years before her passing. Clara is lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years Marcel Croteau of Debden, SK; her children Antoinette "Toni" (Lucien) Leray of Allan, SK, Casper (Gloria) Croteau of Calgary, AB and Lorraine (Milton) Pidskalny of Saskatoon, SK; her grandchildren Lisa (Garry) Campbell, Ron Leray (Kama Leier), Diana (Darren) Adams, Jocelyn Leray, Dwayne Croteau, Robert Croteau (Jeanna Watson), , Christopher Pidskalny and Matthew Pidskalny; her great grandchildren Justin, Samantha and Riley; her sisters Louise Zimmer of Saskatoon, SK, Josephine Dietrich (Michael) of Medicine Hat, AB, Dorothy (Marcel) Lukan of Debden, SK and Hilda Zunti of Saskatoon, SK; her brothers Walter (Elsie) Zunti of Luseland, AB and Frank (Agnes) Zunti of Saskatoon, SK; her sisters in-law Sr. Marie Croteau, Cecile Arbour and Aline Zunti as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Casper and Anna Zunti, her sister Sr. Salesia Zunti, her brother Casper Zunti & 2 twin brothers who died in infancy, her brothers in-law Joe Zimmer, Alphie Croteau, Michel Croteau, Romeo Croteau and Lionel Croteau; her sister in-law Mary Zunti, Rene, Leo & Alice Croteau (flu of 1918). The prayer service was held on Thursday, August 23rd 2007 at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, August 24th, 2007 at 11 a.m., both from St. Jean Baptiste R. C. Church in Debden, SK. The Mass celebrant was Rev. Fr. Bernabe Millan Sajonas. The music director was Louise Marchildon and the organist was Diane Duret. The cross bearer was Jocelyn Leray and the eulogy was read by Frank Zunti. Honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Clara's life. The active pall bearers were Dwayne Croteau, Robert Croteau, Ron Leray, Christopher Pidskalny, Darren Adams and Matthew Pidskalny. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made towards mass intentions. Clara was laid to rest in the Debden Cemetery.
