Obituary of Joseph "Joe" Paul Lapierre

Joseph "Joe" Paul Lapierre 1928 - 2016 With sadness filling their hearts, the family of Joe Lapierre, late of Marcelin, sadly announce his passing on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Left to mourn his passing is; his beloved wife, Jeanne (nee: Godin) Lapierre, his two daughters, Cindy (Blair) Madsen and sons; Barrett (Kristen) and their daughter Paige, Dane (Morgan) and their son, Dominic, Lisa (Mark) Kitzul and their son Liam, and numerous other relatives and friends. Joe was born April 24, 1928 to Alex and Blanche Lapierre and the eldest of 6 children. Life began at the family farm where he was born and raised. He attended classes at the Skiptun school. As a young man of 19 years he was stricken with tuberculosis and spent a total of 51 months of his life in the P.A. Sanatorium recovering. This is where he was acquainted with the one who captured his heart, Jeanne Godin. They were married on June 30, 1958 and later took over the homestead from his parents when they retired. He farmed with his Dad and then joined with his brother Jerry forming the “Lapierre Brothers” mixed farming business. He loved farming and the seasons of change until the harvest was completed. The homestead was exactly that, home, where family gatherings took place often. Keeping family together was very important to him. The Welcome mat was always out for everyone thanks to Jeanne’s help. Years later, they added the joy of taking on the role of parenthood and adopted two girls who have fulfilled their lives totally, along with grandchildren and great grandchildren. The retired years were winters spent in Arizona with many new friends to golf with and summers back home camping, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed talking to people and was interested about their lives and accomplishments. Joe lived each moment fully as he knew how fast it could be taken away. Upon reflecting on his life, he was very gratified to have lived it to the fullest. The family wishes to invite family and friends to join them on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's RC Church in Marcelin to celebrate the life of Joseph. Interment will take place in the Marcelin Cemetery followed by a time of lunch and fellowship in the Marcelin Community Hall. In lieu of tributes, memorial donations may be made in memory of Joe to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
