Obituary of John "Jack" Thomas Collins

John “Jack” Collins 1928- 2016 It is with great sadness that the family of John (Jack) Collins announce his unexpected passing on June 7, 2016. Dad was born on May 12, 1928 in Colonsay, SK the son of Tom and Esther Collins. The family moved to the Victorie/Debden area in the early 1930' where Dad farmed his entire life. Mom and Dad retired and moved into the town of Debden in 1993, however, farming stayed in his blood until the very end. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing ball, curling, playing cards, visiting with friends and neighbors, listening to his brother Bob's music and especially driving the countryside "checking the crops". He was actively involved in the community serving as town councillor, RM councillor, school board trustee, board member of the Debden Housing Authority and the Knights of Columbus. Left to cherish his memory are his children Lucille (Bob) Izsak, Ann Simmans, Susan (Don) Peddie, Jerome (Tracy), Len (Sharon), David (Brenda), Ernest (Lori), Eugene (Chris), Ron (Joe), Doreen (Roger) Couture; his 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his sister Dorothy (Ray) Larocque and brother Bob (Phyllis) Collins. He was predeceased by his wife Leona, his parents Tom and Esther Collins, brothers Lawrence, Joe, William and Hubert, sons-in-law Marvin Buller and Paul Simmans, parents- in-laws Henry and Mary Lukan, siblings-in-law Bernard and Clara Lukan and Frank Zunti. The Vigil of Prayers will be held at 7:30p.m. on Sunday, June 12th, 2016. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00a.m. on Monday, June 13th, 2016 with Father Tuan Doan officiating, both services will be held at St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church in Debden, SK. Interment will follow in the Victoire Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Dad's name to Victorie Cemetery Fund.
