Obituary of Antoinette Otte

It is with deep sadness that the family of Antoinette Otte announces her passing on September 1, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Marie Regina Antoinette (Chenard) Otte was born in Big River on November 19, 1917 to Horace and Marie Chenard. She was the fourth in a family of nine children. She grew up and attended school in Big River. French was spoken in the home and English learned while in school. On October 11, 1938 she and George Otte were married. At this time they took over the family farm and sold dairy products and garden produce in the community throughout the 1940's. Antoinette loved her home and worked hard to provide a loving, nurturing environment for her husband and six children. She loved to cook, sew, knit, crochet and garden. With the arrival of grandchildren, she was in her element. Now she could dew and bake to her hearts content. In 1985, after 47 years of marriage, George passed away leaving a great void in her life. As the years passed, the grandchildren graduated, married and great grandchildren were born, bringing much joy to her life. In 2002, she hurt her back and lost a lot of her independence. However, with the help of her nearby family and Homecare, she was able to stay in her home until December 2005. At that time, Lakewood Lodge became her home where she received excellent care. Our family is very grateful for the special care they have given her these past two years. Antoinette is lovingly remembered by her children Paulette (Garry) Cooper of Big River, SK, Pauline (Felix) Sanche of Saskatoon, SK, Linda (Ted) Mazurkewich of Shellbrook, SK, Lorraine (Glenn) Padbury of Saskatoon, SK, Neil (Johanne) Otte of Big River, SK and Carol (Terry) Krienke of Big River, SK; her grandchildren Lee (Shelly) Cooper and children Brooklyn & Talbot; Tammy (Garnet) Wood and children Tony, Kale & Dana; Corrine (Calvin) Smith and children Hillary, Wesley & Quinn; Glenn (Denise) Sanche & children Danielle, Lauren, Stephanie & Vince; Clifton (Sherri) Sanche & children Dylan & Claire; Nicole Mazurkewich; David (Janna) Mazurkewich & daughter Kinley; Dawn (Dave) Gillis & children Sydney & Ryan; Chris (Stacey) Padbury & children Erin & Gabriel; Cheryl Padbury; Gina Otte; Dion Otte; Logan (Bojana) Krienke & daughter Halie; Jenna Krienke; her brother Edmond (Muriel) Chenard of Perth, ON; her sisters in-law Therese Chenard of Big River, SK & Viola Granberg of Canwood, SK.
