Obituary of Gerard "Gerry" Robert Orieux

It is with deep sadness that the family of Gerry Orieux announces his sudden passing on Wednesday, September 26th, 2007, at the age of 67. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father, Lord Jesus Christ. Gerry was born February 18th 1940 in Prince Albert, SK and he spent his childhood years living and working on the family farm in the Leoville area. For most of his adult life he worked primarily in the mining industry in the Northwest Territories and northern Saskatchewan. Gerry was an active member of St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, he spent many hours volunteering at the church and giving his time to local charities. Gerry will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Gerry is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia, of Prince Albert, his children Claudelle (Don), Vince (Wendy) and Rod (Karla) and nine grandchildren; Colton, Dustyn, Brandon, Ryan, Alyx, Carter, Riley, Dillon and Jake. He was predeceased by his parents Louis Orieux and Eva (nee Lavoie) and several siblings. The prayer service was held at St. Josephs RC Church in Prince Albert on Monday Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Leoville, SK on Tuesday Oct. 2nd at 2:00 p.m. from St.Therese RC Church with Rev. Fr. Matthew Nguyen as the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph RC Church of Prince Albert or St. Therese RC Church in Leoville. Gerry was laid to rest in the Leoville Cemetery.
