Obituary of Armand Desire Quessy
QUESSY – Armand Desire Quessy
Armand was born July 5, 1927 in St. Front Saskatchewan, the first of six children. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 9, 2016 at Whispering Pine Place in Canwood.
Dad took the first years of his schooling in St. Front, Saskatchewan. After completing the grades available at the country school there, he went on to attend college in Regina to complete his education. In his early years he tried his hand at many different occupations including teaching for one year at Timberlost School, looking after the family farm when his parents purchased the store in Leoville and moved there and also accounting in Saskatoon.
In 1971 Dad purchased property near Debden and in 1972 him and Mom moved to Debden to begin a farming career. While Dad aspired to be a farmer, once again his true calling won out and him and Mom opened “Quessy Accounting” in Debden in 1980. They worked together at this business until they sold it in 1994 and Dad retired.
After his retirement Dad spent time enjoying reading, golfing and discovering the “world wide web”. Dad enjoyed the knowledge of the internet and spent hours looking up and learning about things he wanted to know.
In 2001 they made the decision to try life in the city and sold their “old” house in Debden and moved to Saskatoon. During this time, they still enjoyed spending their summers at Morin Lake, which allowed them to still stay connected to the community of Debden that they called home for almost 30 years.
With the birth of their only grandchild, Nicholas, in 2008, they decided to move back to the area and purchased a home in Canwood. Nicholas spent many hours with grandpa. Dad always had patience and this characteristic was demonstrated many times during the hours they spent together.
Dad’s health started to decline in 2012. In March of 2016 the decision was made that he needed more care than Mom was capable of and he moved to Whispering Pine Place in Canwood. We were extremely fortunate that he was able to stay in the community.
Over Dad’s lifetime, he was very active in many different committees, organizations and politics including the PC Party, Debden Sport’s Association, Debden Dehy and Sask. Forrest Products. It seemed to us kids that he was always gone to a meeting!
Dad is survived by his loving wife Elaine, his children Angela Lenaghan and Lisa Quessy (Stuart Benson) and his very special Grandson, Nicholas Quessy. His brothers Lou (Denise) Quessy, Dennis (Gudrun) Quessy and his sister Henriette (Yvon) Martel.
He was predeceased by his daughter Louise Graham, his parents Victorine and Henry Quessy, his sister Doris White and his brother Lionel Quessy.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Jean Baptiste R.C. Church in Debden, interment at Debden Cemetery to follow.
