Obituary of Francine Anne Prins
Francine Anne Prins
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Francine Ann Prins on Sept. 22, 2016 at the age of 70. Francine spent the last week of her life surrounded by her loving family and in the comfort of her beloved home on the farm. “Annie” is survived by her loving husband John; her children Jennifer (Paul) Happ-granddaughters: Kaitlyn, Sarah and Josee, Kelly Prins, Melanie (Nathan Nash) granddaughter Arie; her mother Luella Parenteau; her brother Alvin (Brenda) Parenteau, nephew Landon Parenteau and niece Chelsea (Danny) Mayes children Ryder and Ava; her sister Elaine (Al) McMillan, nephew Jared (Jodi) McMillan and son Lux; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Francine was predeceased by her father Frank in 2005, and uncles Raymond Samson, and Chester Samson. Francine Ann Parenteau was born on June 23rd, 1946 in Prince Albert. From an early age, a strong work ethic was instilled in Francine as she started her ``first`` career as a pump attendant at the family service station- Frank`s Esso on highway 2. The addition to the family of a baby sister- Elaine in 1952 and little brother Alvin in 1959 allowed Francine to exercise her strong maternal instinct. She graduated high school from the Academy of the Presentation Mary in 1964. In 1967, Francine married John Prins of Prince Albert and they built a life and family together on the farm south of town. She loved to host family gatherings, holiday celebrations and having the neighbors for coffee in her home or her beautifully landscaped yard. These get togethers were always very important to Francine and everyone was always assured of a warm welcome and a hearty home-cooked meal at the Prins farm. Education was always an important priority for Francine. She fulfilled a lifelong goal of receiving her B.Ed from the University of Saskatchewan in 1990 and enjoyed many years of teaching at various schools in the Prince Albert area. Francine was proud to see her three children graduate from the U of S as well. Along with her life as a mother, wife and home maker, Francine was actively involved in a variety of causes and organizations. She was a member of the local school board for a number of years and was always a strong advocate for children everywhere. Her love and dedication to children was evident to all who knew her. She was well loved by the many kids she cared for at the Tiny Tots Day Care- a job she cherished in her retirement years. Nana`s biggest passion however were her four grand-daughters- Kiki, Sare-bear, Jojo and her littlest Toot Toot. Nana and Papa’s farm was always a favorite destination where the kids knew that hugs and snuggles, tons of treats and lots of laughs were always guaranteed. She loved to sew dresses, Halloween costumes, make quilts and many other “treats” for her four sweeties. Quad rides, camping trips and fall family hikes at Waskesiu will be memories treasured for a lifetime. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Andrea Symon, Dr. John Shaw and Trina, Dr. Davina Tai, the staff of the Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic at St. Paul’s, the staff on 6th floor at RUH and staff at Prince Albert Home Care for the wonderful care you’ve provided to Francine. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00pm on Thursday September 29, 2016 at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, 260-25th Street East Prince Albert, SK with Father Roque Concepcion officiating. A private family interment will be held. Memorial donations in Francine’s memory may be directed to the Canadian Diabetes Association 2301 Ave C North #104, Saskatoon, SK S7L 5Z5.
