Obituary of Annie Scutt

Annie "Judy" Scutt March 21, 1923 - September 25, 2016 Annie Judy Scutt was born to Nester and Annie Nimilowich on March 21st, 1923 in North Battleford, Sask. and passed away peacefully at RUH in Saskatoon on Sept. 25th, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer Scutt on March 04, 2001 and previously her parents, siblings and in-laws. Surviving are her 3 daughters, Barbara, Beatrice and Brenda. Barb is married to Bill Soderberg from Glenbush and they have 2 children, Darren (Jodi) Soderberg from Glenbush and Lori Soderberg from Saskatoon. Beatrice Scutt from Saskatoon. Brenda is married to Perry Thiessen from Meacham. They have 2 children, Rachel (Elliott) Cline from Macklin and Brock (Tera) Thiessen from Saskatoon. She had 2 great grandchildren Winter and Octavian Cline. Judy grew up in Mullingar and lived most of her adult life in Rabbit Lake. She married Elmer Scutt on May 26, 1953 and farmed 5 ½ miles west of Rabbit lake until 1965 when they moved into Rabbit Lake. She worked at the Rabbit Lake Hospital for over 21 years. She worked as a cook, doing laundry and housekeeper. She retired from the hospital in 1987. Judy was a person that loved life and made every minute count. She was a very hard worker; she said you don’t quit until the job is done. In her younger years she could stook sheaves faster than most men. She told us she stooked 60 acres in one day. She grew up in a very large family as she was one of 18 children but only 13 survived to adulthood. She was the last one to pass away from her family. Judy loved playing ball and loved dancing. She would walk to Mullingar (10 to 12 miles away) to a dance, and then walk home in time to milk cows and the rest of the chores never thinking of sleeping. She played first base on a men’s team without a glove and was a pitcher in a women’s team, hitting a lot of home runs. She also loved to curl and play horseshoe. Judy was a wonderful cook, carpenter, loved to sew and crochet. She made afgans for the whole family. She also loved to shop and bought a lot of gadgets that were advertised on TV, some were great and some not so good. Judy loved gardening and enjoyed having beautiful flowers. She enjoyed picking berries and making preserves. Fishing and playing Kaiser were also among her favorite pastimes. She had a love for the Blue Jays and even went on a bus tour to Minneapolis to watch them. She had a passion for travelling and went on many trips with Elmer and Beatrice. They travelled most of Canada. Her and Beatrice also traveled to Las Vegas, Hawaii, and India. She enjoyed her grandchildren. Her and Elmer were avid goers to Darren and Brock’s hockey games, watching Lori, Rachel and Brock Ukranian dancing, and following Brock’s baseball. Grandma thought Brock should pitch for the Blue Jays and thought Lori was a great painter. Mom enjoyed her great grandchildren, Winter and Octavian. She enjoyed singing in Ukranian to Winter which would make Winter laugh. Judy was one determined lady, anything she set her mind to she could do and do it right. Everything had to be done right away and done well. She was a great influence in our lives and left us with many wonderful memories which we will cherish forever in our hearts. She will be dearly missed.
