Obituary of Alice Crawford

CRAWFORD - Alice Esther Crawford of Mont Nebo, Sask., passed away peacefully at her home on October 26, 2007 at the age of 93 years. Mom has gone to join Dad to share eternal life together. Alice was born October 11, 1914 to Halford and Rachel Young of Mont Nebo. Alice and Sidney raised their children on a farm near Mont Nebo. Together they worked hard ensuring the cattle, pigs and chickens were all fed and cows milked. Mom also drove the tractor during harvest time. After farming slowed down they were able to take trips which were very much enjoyed. Nothing gave Mom greater joy than her family and friends. She was the most dedicated Mother, Sisters, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother and friend. Her little ways of teasing always filled our heart with her love and tenderness. She was one of the most understanding mothers, she was there for you to listen and not condemn. She enjoyed company and visiting, also playing card games and especially yahtzee with family and friends. We will surely miss her loving spirit. I think everyone would agree that Mom was a most wonderful cook and marvellous baker, her pineapple cake was just the best. Mom was also very impressive with her knitting needles. She knit everything from socks to afghans. Church was a very important part of her life. As a young lady she became involved and quite dedicated to the Women's Auxiliary which she attended until last month. Mom will be loved and remembered forever by her daughters, Dee and Harry Fines, Marilyn and Henry Simonar, sons: Glen and Bea Crawford and Ronald and Marilyn Crawford. Her sisters Emma, Florence and Otto Rueker and Doris and Peter Herman as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice was predeceased by her husband Sidney, sisters Rose, Alma and Jean and Edith, brothers: Lester, Tommy, Johnny and Bobby and her parents Halford and Rachel Young. A son-in-law Leonard Sletten and a daughter-in-law Ruth Crawford. The funeral service was held in the Mont nebo Hall on Thursday, November 1st, 2007 with Rev. Peter Boote officiating, Interment took place in St. Luke's Anglican Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Luke's Church or St. Luke's Cemetery Fund.
