Obituary of Henry Werstroh

It is with great sadness that the family of Henry Werstroh announces his sudden passing on November 28, 2007 at the age of 74 years. Henry was born in Glenbush on April 21, 1933 into the family of John and Mary Werstroh. He lived in the Glenbush area all of his life, except for a brief time in Ontario and Saskatoon. On July 26, 1958, he married Tena Dyck and they had four boys: Barry, Allan, Randy and Murray. The newlyweds first lived in Saskatoon and then came back to Glenbush in 1961 to his parent's farm. Henry and Tena started buying their own farm in 1965 and expanded it from there. This farm was Henry's home until his death. Henry loved farming, working with cattle and on the land. He enjoyed all sports, both playing and watching. He played ball and broom ball; he coached hockey for many years and later bowled for many years. Henry also drove school bus for 33 years. His list of friends was endless, and he always enjoyed visiting and having a cup of coffee with them. Henry is lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 49 years, Tena; his children Barry (Susan) and his children Mandy and Cory; Allan; Randy (Carol) and their son Cayle; and Murray (Rhonda) and their children Autumn and Bailee; his brother and sisters John (Marie), Lena (Cornie) Neufeld, Vi (Milan) Michlik, Katie (Peter) Flath and his sister in-law Rita as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Henry was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Werstroh and his brother Ernie. The funeral service was held on Monday, December 3rd, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Medstead Community Hall with Rev. Don Unger as the officiant. Sharon Janzen played the piano for the congregational hymn Safe in the Arms of Jesus as well as the duet by Cornie and Marlene Martens. Cheri Dueck read the eulogy. Honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Henry's life and the active pall bearers were Sylvan Martens, Peter Wiebe, Raymond Dyck, Les Wiebe, Terry Orange and Cornie Neufeld. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan Provincial Office 279-3rd Ave. N. Saskatoon, SK S7K 9Z9. Henry was laid to rest in the Glenbush Hoffnungsfelder Mennonite Cemetery.
