Obituary of Lee Hill

The family of Lee Hill are deeply saddened to announce Lee's passing on November 29, 2007 after a short battle with cancer. He grew up in the Amiens district east of Mildred. Lee and Kathy were married in July of 1967. After working in Chetwynd, BC for three years they moved back to the farm to raise their family. As busy as farming was, Lee always made time for his family. Because Lee always enjoyed playing softball and hockey, he was happy to be able to coach when his children began playing. He coached both minor ball and hockey for many years. He was also the designated driver for many school sporting events that his children participated in. Lee was active in the community. Throughout the years he was a member of the school board as well as the health board. He was also involved in farming and political affairs, most recently as a member of the North West Saskatchewan Organic Producers Inc. Being a true farmer, Lee needed an off farm job to make ends meet. Lee spent many a winter working in various seasonal positions in northern Canada. He spent the last seven years working as a pipe fitter for Corlac Industries in Lloydminster. It started off as a winter job, and turned into full time employment that he loved. He worked for the week in Lloydminster but still made time for his family and farming on weekends and holidays. Lee always believed in the value of hard work, and he raised his family to believe the same. He felt that no matter what you did, you always gave it your best. He proved this to all of us by working full time right up until October 31st when he was hospitalized. Lee will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Lee is lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 40 years, Kathy; his children William (Alyson) Hill and their children Darrian and Kendra; Paula (Conrad) Goller; Nelson (Stacy) Hill and their children Brianna, Josh and Dawson; Naomi Hill and Phyllis (Gene) Baun and their son James; his sister Jean (Cliff) Eilers and his brother Ken (Linda) Hill as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. Lee was predeceased by his parents Nelson and Reta Hill, two infant brothers Keith and Charlie, his in-laws James and Evelyn Peterson, 4 sisters in-law and 3 brothers in-law. The memorial service was held on Wednesday, December 5th, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Shell Lake Lion's Hall. Pastor Ross Helgeton was the officiant. Lorraine Diesen was the organist and Lisa Mayo was the soloist. The congregational hymn was One Day at a Time. Honorary pall bearers were Coworkers of Corlac Industries and family and friends and the urn bearers were Brianna, Josh, Dawson, Darrian and Kendra. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lloydminster Hospital Palliative Care Fund 3820 - 43rd Ave. Lloydminster, SK S9V 1Y5. Lee was laid to rest in the Shell Lake Cemetery.
