Obituary of Tony Soloducha
Tony Soloducha
January 25th, 1921- March 13th, 2017
Tony Soloducha was born in 1921 in Ukraine and immigrated to Canada with his family when he was six years old. He passed away in his home in Steep Creek on March 13, 2017 at the age of 96. Tony was one of nine siblings and always cared so much for his brothers and sisters. He took school until grade 10 because his family couldn’t afford the textbooks for grade 11. In 1942, at age 21, he bought his first half section of land. Until last year, that kept him very busy. Tony met Sharon Bissky in Prince Albert in 1951 and since then they have never left each other’s side. Whether they were working, going dancing or visiting with neighbours, they were always together. When he passed, they had been married for 64 years. Together, they enjoyed travelling, playing cards, ice fishing and going to the casino. Tony had a passion for the farm and was always ready for a Sunday drive to go see his crops. This pastime was something he never gave up to the very end. He put his all into farming and it was something he took great pride in. Tony was also the true definition of a lifetime scholar, always having his nose in a book. He was known in the community for being kind, generous and soft-spoken. Tony is lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon, his children, Patrick (Corinne) of Steep Creek, Sask. and their family, Brian, Michael (Danielle) and their children Ella and Maia, Alex and Sarah, Karen (Ken) of Prince Albert, Sask. and Mark (Tina) of Edmonton, Alta. and their daughter Tarra, his siblings, Nettie Kerpan of Sidney, B.C., Sam (Elsie) of Steep Creek, Sask., Steve of Regina, Sask. and Nick (Betty) of Regina, Sask. and his siblings-in-law, Loretta Skinner, Doris Bissky, Emily Bissky and Dorothy Bisskey. He is predeceased by his granddaughter, Julie Soloducha, his siblings, John, Peter (Jessie), Pearl (Vern) Green, Doris (Alfred) Baron and his siblings-in-law, John Kerpan, Irene Soloducha, Stanley Skinner, David Bissky, Stanford Bissky and Elwood Bisskey. A private family ceremony was held on March 16, 2017 to celebrate Tony’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Steep Creek Cemetery will be accepted. Thank-you to all who shared in Tony’s life.
