Obituary of Bernice Anderson
Anderson, Bernice (nee: Brown) – On March 28, 2017 Bernice passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side.
Bernice was born March 16, 1935 in Sturgeon Valley, Saskatchewan. She was the youngest of three children. In 1937 the family left and made their home in Mont Nebo. When she was 11 they moved to Cameo where her parents had the Cameo Store. She attended schools at Fur Lake, Cameo and Shellbrook. In 1953 she married Ole Anderson and lived on the farm starting their family with Sheryl, Marlene and Gwen. In 1957 they moved to Prince Albert. Lolla, as Dad affectionately called her, stayed home to raise her girls. Gwen took ill and passed away in 1961. Lianne came along almost six years later. Around the age of 40 Mom became a driver instructor and had the contract for many years with the Kinistino School Unit. In 1988 Mom and Dad moved back to the farm. Mom spent a lot of her retirement years devoted to the care of her parents and was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends. In 2013, two years after Dad passed, Mom moved to Warman where she lived until her passing.
Mom enjoyed many things in life including playing the piano, organ and accordion, winter weekends and summers at the cabin, cooking, baking, sewing, quilting and knitting. She was a perfectionist in everything she did and made. She loved music and in particular the Gaither Gospel Hour on Friday nights. Mom and Dad were active members of the Lutheran church. She loved family get togethers especially with her three sons-in-law arguing over who was her favorite. She treasured her friendship with Doris, her best friend of almost 60 years. Her dogs Mindy, Bambi and Bo gave her great joy. Mom recently took in a rescue dog who brought a smile to her face even in her final days.
Bernice will be lovingly remembered by her children Sheryl (Jerry) Jarvis, Marlene (Neil) Shatula, Lianne (Dean) Gay; brother Garnet (Shirley) Brown; sisters-in-law Grace Brown, Agnes Brown, Helen Tang and Irene Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ole; daughter Gwen; parents Bert and Gladys Brown; brother Carrol Brown; in-laws Magnus and Bella Anderson; siblings-in-law Alvin (Brenda) Anderson, Marvin Tang, Camilla (Desmond) Prosser, Milton Anderson, Ellen (John) Reithaug, Andrew Anderson, Alice (Russell) Coates, Mary (George) Agrey and Marvin Brown.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Parkside, with Pastor Chris Dean officiating.
